This magnificent turtle jewelry container is made of artisan hand carved soft Albesia wood with intricately hand dye-painted and patterned Batik motif.  The Batik process creates a velvety cloth like texture over the entire surface of the turtle. The upper shell is lifted to reveal the hollowed compartment inside. This container is a beautiful ornament and may be also used to hold small jewelry items or trinkets.

Batik relates to the artwork and the ancient Indonesian Javanese philosophies of life and the artwork used in textiles and artisan woodcarving. Kura Kura is Indonesian for turtle.
