Ornamental Puppet Wayang Kulit Rama & Shinta (SET)


The body of these puppets is made of intricately carved and colorfully painted water-buffalo leather (Kulit). The Puppets are carved and painted by a highly skilled artisan in Indonesia. The center handle and manipulating rods are carved from the water buffalo horn. The arms and manipulating rods are fully functional.

Rama & Shinta are sold in a set of two for a spectacular display. The Puppets will greatly enhance any living room decor, bedroom decor, kitchen decor, hallway. decor or office decor.

Rama is descended from the Hindu god Vishnu and is believed by many Hindus to be based on an actual figure from history. Rama is thought to be the most virtuous hero from Hindu mythology. He and his wife Shinta, are the classic example of purity and marital devotion.

Wayang means “puppet” and Kulit means “leather”.

Batik relates to the artwork and the ancient Indonesian Javanese philosophies of life and the artwork used in textiles and artisan woodcarving.
